There are over 17,000 youth in foster care in Arizona alone. Of these over 700 turn 18 and "age out" of the system with no family, no home, no support.
Approximately 40% of these young adults become homeless or imprisoned within two years of aging out of the foster care system.
It is estimated 30% of our homeless population "aged out" of the foster care.
Our unique EmpowerToolScool will provide a safe, loving family style home for them while they attend community college.
These young adults will learn construction trades, leadership skills and team work.
They will emerge empowered to be a positive force in their community.
KNOW THE FACTS
The Foundation to Foster Empowerment is committed to stopping the cycle of homelessness and hopelessness for young adults aging out of the foster care system by empowering them with the life skills and motivation to be independent, inspired and contributing leaders in their community.
Our Unique EmpowerToolSchool program will provide a safe home for them while they go to school to learn construction trades, team building and leadership skills in a loving supportive environment.
Family is a core value of F2FE and we are creating a family environment with services and support for foster youth as they trasition to adulthood. By becoming a part of our family you will be helping us empower them!
For only $2,500 you will provide a qualified foster youth with a full year of housing and training in our EmpowerToolSchool. F2FE is more than just helping and training, it;s a chance at a new and better life.
EmpowerToolSchool participants will learn construction, teamwork and leadership skills through real world experiences with potential for home ownership. Have a home that needs some repairs before it will sell?
Many Foster Youth suffer multiple losses over the course of their stay in foster care including:
-Sibling separation because they are placed in different homes in different cities
-Have only minutes to pack when removed, leaving behind clothing, memories, photos, school books, and homework
-Loss of their support system such as schools, churches or communities
-Must leave their animals behind
-Friends and teachers being left without a “good bye”
-No where to go on their 18th birthday
